Reda Residence

What we were doing here was to create an outdoor terrace and area around the pool. The deck was designed to be at the same level as the house, with 2 or 3 steps down to the pool area. The existing maple was originally scheduled to be removed but was eventually designed into the deck as a natural sun screen. The rear yard has a hill where we added a decorative wall with lots of lush planting along it. We also planted the hill with a colorful garden for year round interest.

This project had many design issues; there was no open lawn area, a large hill side with was not plantable and no terrace area for friends and family to hangout. The issue of no useable backyard was fixed by pushing the earth back about 20' and creating a lawn area with the use of retaining walls. With the change in grade we were able to create terraces at different levels. The lower level consists of a BBQ area and tables for relaxing. So they now have 3 terraces and an area around the pool for sunning. Plus the homeowners can now see the children anywhere in the backyard.

We were brought into this job as the contractor was building this house for a homeowner. Our roll here was to advise regarding drainage issues and grading of the property. The water would pitch toward the house and actually run into the garage. We solved that problem by cutting the grade along the house and adding decorative stone walls to retain the garden and plant along. We also planted the front of the house and the circular driveway.

This is a contractor's house that we were doing work at. He had no time to finish the work outside of the house so we were brought in to help out. We redesigned the front walk and removed the overgrown planting along the front of the house. We planted a mixture of evergreens and perennials. We graded and leveled the backyard so the kids had a flat lawn area to play on. We also added bluestone pavers and wood planks around the pool to create a terrace for family to come over and hangout. We planted evergreens to screen out the neighbors and then plant colorful plants in front to give a lush garden appeal.
